Over the last week, we’ve been busy making event videos for our clients, and it’s got us thinking about what it is that makes a really great event video.

Firstly, it needs to be eye catching. Most people won’t stop to watch the promotional video for every stall they walk past, and so yours needs to stand out. Beautiful shots, bright colours and great graphics can all help to grab a potential customer and get them interested in your product or service.

Next, keep it short. Even if your video looks great, and grabs someone’s initial interest, it is unlikely that they will stand and watch a long video with a lot of detailed content. Keeping your video to around 1 minute in length will be enough time to get your message across, but will leave the viewer wanting to know more, prompting a conversation between you and the customer.

You should also think carefully about your use of sound. Trade shows tend to be noisy, and it can be difficult to hear videos above the sound of the crowd. Instead of a long and informative voice-over, choose an upbeat music track and consider the use of subtitles, slides and captions to add quick bursts of information.

Ultimately, you want a video that is memorable, engaging and attention grabbing.
