Since summer has long gone, we’ve found ourselves spending most of our dark evenings indoors, watching films. Sometimes, those films aren’t what you’d expect, however everyone has that one film they aren’t too keen on sharing. Here’s our favourite guilty pleasure films:
Roxy – Assistant Producer
Freaky Friday (2003)
Yes, the Lindsey Lohan remake. I was 12 when this film came out, and I watched it over and over. Lindsey was in her peak, her character was a difficult teenage daughter who played in an all-girl pop punk band and had a crush on Chad Michael Murray (pretty much the Ryan Gosling of 2003 for tweens).Her Mother (Jamie Lee Curtis) is a smart and controlled professional – needless to say, they don’t get on. Everything changes when they switch bodies for one day after reading a magic fortune cookie at a Chinese restaurant, and have to learn to live each others lives.
It’s not a great film, in fact it’s pretty cringey throughout, and even though I definitely should have grown out of this one by now, I just can’t resist some classic teenage Lohan!
Tash – Producer
Sound of Music (1965)
I loved it the first time I watched it and every time since. It always puts a silly grin on my face (including when I found it amongst the ‘classics’ on a flight to Singapore earlier this year!)
The reasons why basically boil down to the fact Julie Andrews is a legend, the songs are the ultimate sing a longs, all combined with a soppy love story. It stuck with me as a little girl as I desperately wanted to be like Liesel when I grew up, longed for a house with a ballroom, with 6 brothers and sisters to run around fountains and fall into rivers with. I dreamt of dancing around a conservatory in a floaty pink dress/still do……oh and maybe I secretly want to marry Captain Von Trapp…what’s not to love?!
Brad – Assistant Producer
Bridesmaids (2011)
I have seen this far too many times, however Kristen Wiig is hilarious in this, especially when she is intoxicated on a plane. Having Melissa McCarthy star in any film always takes the funny factor up a notch and she did not disappoint in Brides Maids, playing the odd one out but somehow fitting in so perfectly.
Harry – Production Assistant
Pitch Perfect (2012)
A genuinely funny movie. Me liking this film may or may not also have something to do with a man crush I have on Adam DeVine. He’s hilarious and I’m a massive fan of his work, in particular Workaholics. Brilliant show!
Matt – Head of Production
Amelie (2001)
A bit girly but also kooky, quirky and cleverly shot. I’m a bit of a part-time Francophile and the Instagram style images of Paris remind me of fun school exchange trips as a teen. A film to get lost in, on a rainy Sunday afternoon.
